How Can I Become A Family Planning Client?
An appointment must be made to receive a physical exam and a pap smear. This exam is done by a nurse practitioner under a physician's protocol. Contraceptive supplies and abstinence education are provided at the initial exam and on routine supply pick-up days scheduled throughout the year. Supplies can be picked up at the Health Department office in Canton or at sub-offices located in Cuba and Astoria. An exam with a pap smear is required yearly for clients to remain on the Family Planning Program.
